MCP server

Practice from the AI tools you already use

Connect Claude, Codex, GitHub Copilot or another MCP client to your EngMock account. From your terminal or editor it can turn your notes into mock interviews, read your reports and send you the setup link for your next interview.

Key facts

  • EngMock’s MCP server is at https://api.engmock.com/api/mcp.
  • Setup guides cover Claude, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI; any other MCP client that supports remote servers works too.
  • Clients that support OAuth only need the address: they open engmock.com and ask you to approve access. Other clients use a personal token from Settings → MCP, sent as a Bearer header.
  • Each token or connected app gets only the permissions you choose, and you can revoke it at any time.
  • Interviews always run on the website: MCP can prepare an interview and give you its setup link, but it never starts one, buys anything or changes your plan.

What it can do

Your interview prep, from chat

Create mock interviews from your notes

Turn a job post or your notes into a private scenario, edit it and get its practice link (see My Scenarios).

Read reports and progress

Read your interview history and completed reports, and ask for a summary of what to practice next.

Find the next interview

Search the built-in catalog and, with access, the Question Bank. The prepare_mock_interview tool returns the setup link, the durations, the cost and a short checklist.

How it works

Connect once, then ask

  1. 1

    Add the server

In your MCP client, add a remote (HTTP) server named engmock with the address https://api.engmock.com/api/mcp. Settings → MCP has copy-ready steps for each client.
  2. 2

Sign in or add a token

With OAuth, your client opens engmock.com: sign in and click Allow. Without it, create a personal token in Settings → MCP and add the header it shows.
  3. 3

    Ask in plain words

For example: “make me a mock interview from this job post”, “what did my last report say about trade-offs?” or “which interview should I practice next?”.
  4. 4

    Practice on the website

Open the setup link your client returns to start the interview on EngMock.

Limits and safety

What MCP can and cannot touch

  • At most 10 active personal tokens and connected apps per account, together.
  • A personal token lasts at most 365 days; an app connected through OAuth keeps access for 90 days after you approve it.
  • MCP cannot start or control a live interview, change billing, or read raw interview audio.
  • Question Bank tools need current Question Bank access, the same as on the website.

MCP server FAQ

Which MCP clients work with EngMock?
Any client that can connect to a remote MCP server. Settings → MCP has step-by-step guides for Claude, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI.
Can my AI tool start an interview for me?
No. It can suggest and prepare one and give you its setup link, but every interview starts and runs on the EngMock website.
What permissions can I give?
You choose them per token or app. They include: Read scenarios and their practice links; Create, edit, archive, and delete scenarios; Submit and inspect server-side generation jobs; Get practice links without reading scenario content; Read your interview history; Delete your historical interviews; Read your completed interview reports; Generate missing reports for completed interviews; Search and read Question Bank (requires current access); Read your credit balance, Question Bank access, and membership status. A token may only carry permissions your account can use now.
Is this the same as the AI-assisted coding track?
No. MCP connects your own tools to your account outside interviews. In the AI-assisted coding track you code with EngMock’s assistant during the interview itself.
